The problems this solves
'Near me' optimises the wrong journey
Your customers are spread across the UK, not clustered around your postcode. The journey that matters is warehouse-to-customer, and couriers price and time that nationally.
Choosing on distance means choosing from a tiny pool
Restricting your search to one town usually means comparing two or three 3PLs of whatever quality happens to be local — instead of the best rate card and service in the country.
Visiting your stock was solving a trust problem
The urge to be near your 3PL is really the urge to check on your stock. Live inventory and discrepancy photo alerts answer that need without the drive.
How Oakmont handles it
What actually happens
- 1
One inbound journey
Your stock travels to us once — by parcel carrier, pallet network or container. UK domestic carriage makes that journey next-day from almost anywhere.
- 2
National dispatch every day
Orders in by 2pm leave the same day into national courier networks, reaching your customers on the same services a local warehouse would use.
- 3
Visibility instead of visits
Live inventory, goods-in photos and discrepancy alerts in the portal do what a site visit does — continuously, and without the motorway.
- 4
Judged on numbers, not postcode
A 2pm cut-off, a 99.8% pick accuracy target and a fully published rate card — the comparators that actually change your customer's experience.

Questions
Asked before, answered here
Does my fulfilment centre need to be near me?
For almost all ecommerce sellers, no. Stock makes one carrier journey to the warehouse, and from then on every order ships by national courier — so delivery speed to your customers depends on the dispatch cut-off, not on where you live. Choosing on rate card, accuracy and visibility beats choosing on postcode.
Where is Oakmont's warehouse?
Our warehouse is in PLACEHOLDER_REGION, and we serve sellers across the whole of the UK by carrier. Wherever you are based, inbound stock typically reaches us next working day by domestic carriage, and orders dispatch into national courier networks the same day when they arrive before 2pm.
Will using a distant fulfilment centre slow down my deliveries?
No — your customers' delivery speed is set by the courier service you choose and whether the order made the day's dispatch, not by the warehouse's distance from you. Orders in by 2pm leave the same day. A warehouse near your house but with a midday cut-off, or a backlog, would be slower where it counts.
How do I check on my stock if I can't drive to the warehouse?
The portal replaces the visit: live inventory by SKU, photographs when goods-in finds a discrepancy or damage, and an itemised billing ledger showing every charge. That is more oversight than an occasional walk round a warehouse gives you. If you do want to visit, you can — it just stops being the only way to know what is happening.
How do I get my stock to you from where I am?
Announce the inbound in the portal, then send it however suits the volume: parcel carrier for cartons, a pallet network for larger loads, or route sea freight to us directly — container devanning is £250 for a 20ft and £375 for a 40ft. Your supplier can ship straight to us, so the stock never needs to pass through your address at all.
